Concussion Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is key in concussion rehabilitation. It helps alleviate symptoms such as:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Dizziness and balance issues
  • Fatigue

Your physiotherapist will perform an evaluation, assessing your symptoms and then guiding you through a personalized recovery program. The end goal is to safely help you return to your usual, pre-injury activity levels.

What is a Concussion?

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that occurs when the brain jolts or moves due to a blow to the head or body, damaging the brain’s nerves and blood vessels. Said damage causes the brain’s chemistry to be altered temporarily, which may affect the injured individual physically, emotionally, and cognitively. Physical symptoms of a concussion include:

  • Headaches
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light and sounds
  • Balance issues

How Long Does a Concussion Last?

This varies on a case-by-case basis. While some individuals fully recover in a matter of days, others deal with the symptoms for weeks or even months after the injury initially occurred.
